Ir. Paul van Brenkelen

Paul is acting as the director & Co-founder for EQOLOGIC®a JV created for ESG advisory services, director
& founder of Foria HK Ltd and acting as an associate partner with FirstCapital advisors providing
investment and asset deployment solutions. In his previous tenure as General Manager China/Global
Director, ESG and Traceability for Clean Energy Associates/Intertek (photovoltaic/ storage) he was
responsible for ESG and traceability-related services development and execution support, project leader
for all IFI/DFI projects. Currently an advisory board member for the International Association for
Sustainable Economy (IASE) in Hong Kong. Past President (’18-’19) and Board member (Foundation Chair
“14-’17)) of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong South, a charity NGO he joined in 2011.
He holds a degree in Agricultural Science (BASc) from Aeres Universities of Applied Sciences (NL),
Agronomy (MSc) from Wageningen Agricultural University (NL), an MABR in Business Research from SBS
(Zurich-CH), a postgraduate master PgDIP (Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma) and DipCD
from the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. Obtained the ISB®designations for Level 1 (advisor) and Level 2
(Specialist), the Sustainability & ESG Designation (GCB.D) and Certification for Business Leaders from
Competent Boards (GCB.D), holds the prestigious Certificate and Designation in Risk Governance®
from

DCROI, is an ESRS compliant (4.0 & 4.1) Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA®

) with EFFAS and is a Certified Board
ChairTM with the Advisory Board Center. And currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration
(‘26/’27), based on a research approval for a corporate governance topic: “Corporate Governance of a
Firms Human & Structured Capital: Influencing a Firms Innovation Strategy.”
He spent the beginning of his career with SGS in the Benelux and HQ (CH) (11 years) in managing
consumer products, sustainable agricultural services, a global competence centre and certification
departments. Together with global responsibilities for food services development, product certification,
and a global Oracle 11i ERP implementation.
Extensive travel (>55 countries) brought him to Asia in 2005 with the competition joining Bureau Veritas
in Hong Kong in roles related to Product Development, Innovation, PMI, and IT-efficiency. Headhunted in
2010 as regional CEO APAC, Regional Manager Far-East for TUV Asia Pacific Ltd, with a strong focus on
sales and legal restructuring, change management, and PMI. In 2014 initiated his own company involved
in managing and advising start-ups (NL/UAE/PH/HKG). But COVID and wife’s relocation to Shanghai
resulted in joining CEA/Intertek prior to his current initiatives.
Was made the youngest executive board member ever at SGS Netherlands, further acting as board
adviser at SGS HQ and at Bureau Veritas CPS HK’s vertical managed HQ. He served as an acting
shareholder for the SEA countries under TUV NORD’s APAC holding and board member (ED/NED) of 8
companies in the Far-East.
Accepted as a Fellow into the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (FHKIoD), member of the Singapore
Institute of Directors (MSID) and GCC Board Directors Institute (M.BDI).
In his spare time enjoys cooking for friends, reading about change management & innovation, social
psychology & NLP, and traveling with his wife.
