Dr Darron Sun is an experienced IT, Fintech, Proptech, cybersecurity, and internal audit professional with extensive experience in the financial services industry and the public sector. He has a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge that includes IT management, IT compliance, project management, internal audit, cybersecurity, and information risk management.
Currently, he serves as the Head of IT at Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS), where he provides vision and leadership for developing and implementing technology initiatives. His mandate is to direct the technology strategy and implement enterprise IT systems to enable business strategy and improve the cost-effectiveness, service quality, and business operations of HKHS.
Before joining HKHS, he worked for over 20 years in the financial service industry, where he was the Assistant Vice President of Manulife HK IT, accountable for the application management of employee benefits (including MPF and GLH) and in charge of the IT compliance function. He was also the Head of IT Audit at Manulife Financial Asia Division, where he delivered risk-based IT audit and project audit services across 11 countries in Asia. During his tenure at Manulife, he was awarded the Manulife Financial Star of Excellence Honoree (Asia) and Manulife Financial Star of Excellence Nominee (Global) due to his outstanding performance and professionalism.
Darron is also known for his numerous achievements, including the World CIO200 (Global), 2022 Outstanding Alumni Award in Professional Achievement of PolyU Faculty of Engineering, 2020-22 Forbes Technology Council Official Member, 2019 The Hong Kong Polytechnic University COMP Alumni Awardee, 2018 WACE Co-op Hall of FAME, and more. He holds several professional qualifications and certifications, such as Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA Australia), Fellowship of CIMA (FCMA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), etc.
