Ar. Edric Choo Poo Liang holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Malaya and a Bachelor of Science in
Housing, Building & Planning from University Science Malaysia. He founded O2 Design Atelier Sdn Bhd in 2015 and later established CPLA (Choo Poo Liang Architect) in 2019.Together, O2 Design Atelier and CPLA form a multidisciplinary design practice that operates at the intersection of architecture, culture, and environmental consciousness. The studio delivers design solutions that are both innovative and contextually grounded.
Guided by a responsive and principle-driven design philosophy, O2DA shapes each project according to its site, cultural
context, client aspirations, and the evolving architectural landscape. A strong awareness of climate change and its impact
on the built environment underpins the studio’s work, driving a critical engagement with sustainability, social behavior,
and urban culture. Edric has travelled extensively across Asia, Europe, and the Americas—including China, Japan, India, the United States, France, Finland, England, and Germany—which continues to inspire and inform his design outlook. He began his architectural career after 13 years of professional experience in Singapore. In addition to leading his practice, he serves as a part-time tutor in the Master of Architecture program at the University of Malaya. He has also been invited as an external critic at various universities, including UM, UPM, Taylor’s University, UCSI, UTAR, and TAR UC. Edric’s work has earned numerous local and international accolades, including awards from Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM), FIABCI, the World Architecture Festival (WAF), and the Asia Pacific Awards.
